Can I use EasySend for backup?
EasySend can be used for backup in some situations, but it is important to understand the limitations of each plan before relying on it for anything critical.
Free Tier Is Not for Backup
The free tier deletes all files after 3 days. This makes it unsuitable for any kind of backup. If you upload files on the free plan with the intention of retrieving them later, they will be gone within 72 hours. The free tier is designed for quick transfers, not storage.
Premium Gives Permanent Storage
The Premium plan at $1.99 per month (or $19.99 per year) includes permanent storage for all uploads. Files stay available until you manually delete them. This makes Premium viable for storing important files, project archives or reference documents. The 10GB per-file limit accommodates most backup needs including large video files, database dumps and disk images.
Lifetime Plan for Small Archives
The Lifetime plan at $4.99 gives you 1GB of permanent storage with no recurring fees. This is enough for a collection of important documents, contracts, certificates or configuration files. It is not enough for media libraries or full system backups, but works well for a small set of critical files you want accessible from anywhere.
Sharing vs. Archival
EasySend is built primarily for sharing, not archival. It does not offer versioning, incremental backups or scheduled backup jobs. If you need those features, a dedicated backup service is a better choice. However, for simple "upload and keep" storage where you also want to share files with others, EasySend handles both tasks at once.
Security for Backups
If you use EasySend for backup, enable end-to-end encryption before uploading. This ensures your backup data is encrypted in your browser before it reaches the server. The EasySend team cannot access encrypted files. Combined with a strong password, this provides a solid layer of protection for sensitive backups.
